Cons of fulltime travel: saying goodbye to people and places
A sad reality of vanlife: once you’ve met people, chances are big you have to say goodbye very soon again. You become friends quicker than normal because of so many shared experiences, but having to say goodbye and to continue on also becomes a bit harder.
With Andy and his lovely dog Maya we had the opportunity to travel almost a month together, but yesterday our roads parted. He had to go back to England and we have to go further south so we’ll be in Morocco on time. 🙃
We still hear doggy Maya barking in Andy’s camper while driving away, as if she knew we wouldn’t see each other again very soon. We often separated and met up again in the mall/new parking spot, but this time Maya just… knew.
It’s a bit weird to be on the road again without an extra campervan behind us, and Jonathan and I have to make the decisions with just the two of us again. 😱 It’s crazy how we really had to re-adjust.
So today we are driving 2,5 hours south, almost all the way to Málaga.
The scenery is amazing while driving: the sea is always on our left and the mountains greet us from our right.🏞️ We are not allowed to complain, but we do notice autumn finally. It’s a bit more chilly, more windy and we can’t swim in the ocean every day anymore. 🙈
Jokes aside: our solar panels have a hard time keeping our fridge on, so my enthusiasm about the batteries working were unfortunately a bit too early. 😢 Now Jonathan is a bit stressed because he wants to have everything perfect before we enter Morocco. 😅 I think we’ll just have to see. 🤷🏼♀️
Did you ever have to say goodbye to new travel friends?
